Large Windows...

The view from my desk, which happens to be in a lobby, looks out into a square. I love this because on days when the weather is phenomenal and accommodating, parents and their kids run around and act youthful. The downside to that is the reminder that I'm sitting inside on a phenomenal day..sitting. However, it reminds me that life, more importantly the lives of others, is bigger than my lobby. I tend to forget that other things are happening in the world the same time my life is happening. Nothing profound in this thought, other than the realization that while I was sending out an email to important committee members, there was a car chase happening on I35. A car chase!! It's times like these that I think, "woah, a lot is going on out there.."

But back to my view in the lobby..it rained yesterday, and today..and I loved it!! Had a tornado been in town I probably would have been more tense but not these days. It just poured. Constant rain and a completely blanketed sky. Consequently the lobby was dark and cozy. I used to want to be at home, in bed/on the couch with a blanket and a movie..but these days I like watching what the weather does to people. Some people who come into my lobby are tense because they're 10 minutes late due to poor weather conditions. A lot are more relaxed because they've excepted that there's no controlling the day, so they embrace it. Even more people are just moving slower. It's amazing how God controls the weather and therefor controls us without us even realizing it. How interesting too that we say "poor weather conditions"..as if rain is the opposite of good. When quite literally, it's actually necessary. The earth needs it, we need it because the earth needs it to grow and produce..so it's very much good.

No big life changing realizations really, just a comforting few days with "good weather". I love my lobby windows..
