OH, precious angel...

Please let me tell you about a precious little boy I babysit on occassion. He might be the smartest, most agreeable, and entertaining child that I babysit for. (Kimmel-please note I did not say, "...that I know".)

He knows sign language, scientific names for dinosaurs, all of his barn animals, and can play baseball! He turned two in February and is exceeding all of my expectations at such a young age. Now, I will say that I haven't been around a ton of kids his age, so I could be completely clueless. None-the-less, I am excited EVERY time I get to see him and I am so sad when his parent's come home to releave me of my babysitting duties.

His name is Andrew and I think he's the best! I'm babysitting his counsin this weekend! He's only 6 months old though, so he'll probably just lay there...

The Pilot

This is my brother! He is flying his first commercial airplane today. He has worked hard for three years to gain enough hours and experience to be where he is! He and his wife, Sarah, are in for a whole new lifestyle thanks to his career. The best news is that they'll be headed to Dallas where he's been "stationed" and they'll get to be close to their family and friends again! The other news that is worth mentioning is the travel benefits :) Yess!!

Almost MAY?!?

I have got to get some work assigned to me...I sit in a cube, with great work space and a lot of potential. But here's the thing...I want to decorate it! How can I make it more inviting, but remain professional? I've added these cute little 5X4" Calendars that bring a little bit of color and personality into my space. But I want MORE! I was thinking of bringing a white pitcher with a small delightful flower in it and put it up on my shelf. What I really want to do is bring in fabric and cover the place, but that might be crossing a boundry or two. Speaking of...our board of directors are in town this week. Good thing I've waited to be bold...

So what do you think? What can I add?

You'll notice on the calendar that it's already the END of April. I've been 25 for 6 Days already! So far in 2011 I've gotten a new job, moved homes, turned 25, and have embraced cooking! Big year so far - Hope's Year if you will...I recall declaring that on New Year's Eve...

And....done!

It's official - I've relocated. We had quite a challenging weekend moving from a house to the third floor of an apartment. However, thanks to friends and a local moving company, we were able to get 95% of it done this weekend!

Challenges:
1. Car broke down on Friday so painting did not get done, and not much got moved (wasted)
2. Had two slightly different colors of the same paint so I had to buy a THIRD gallon of paint to cover the entire wall.
3. Didn't pick up my car until 5:30 on Saturday.

I'm so thankful for Michael and ALL the help he gave me this weekend to get everything done. I would have spent another 2 days working without him. (He painted above picture on the wall before he got to work. Then he had a difficult time covering it :) )

Current status: Walls are painted, car is fixed, and there are boxes just about everywhere!! I'll need help from a certain L. Johnson to lend me her decorative eye for my room! :)

Hopefully after all the rain clears out this week - we'll have a weekend by the pool!!

Q1 - Birthday Blast

Well I've turned 25 today. Oddly enough, I keep telling people I'm 21 now. Ha! I think the confusion for me is that it's the 21st...I don't know, maybe I'm just in more denial than I thought. But I'm so happy to be 25 and I can only hope that this next year is better than the rest!

It's been a wonderful day so far. I was greeted with cookies, a balloon, and candy this morning, Facebook has reassured me that people care about me, and my really cute bf bought me a beautiful dress from Anthro! (sigh...)

I'm mostly looking forward to my birthday lunch with my new friends at my new office and then my birthday dinner at LA Gourmet in Uptown tonight! I love their pizza and the option to bring your own wine always makes me smile. I'm so thankful for friends who love me and make me laugh! Here's to another year folks! Let's have some fun!

Relocation Station

Well I'm moving! There are many many feelings that I can express about this move. Anticipation, giddy, joyful, nervous, stressed, panic.

I am so looking forward to my own closet and personal space. Sharing a room has it's advantages, but there are also a lot of trials to work through. I can't wait to no longer have room serve as the path to the laundry room and back door. But again, there's the advantage of seeing the roommates more.

I'm so giddy about redecorating and re-organizing my belongings and the bathroom. I've really enjoyed simplifying my clothes, books, and stuff. I'll have access to a pool and a workout room, which will only make my Summer THAT MUCH BETTER!

I'm joyful about the better heating and cooling components of the new place. No longer will I be freezing in the Winter and sweating in the Summer. The newer appliances and lack of rats will be ever so calming as well.

I'm nervous about the parking situation and about having neighbors REALLY close to you...

I'm stressed about all the details that go into leaving one location after the move. Dealing with landlords and crazy demands...dealing with the house being "clean enough" and overall moving details.

I'm in panic-mode because I only have two days before I start moving and I'm not done yet. Two days, you think to yourself...well I only have about an hour or two devoted to packing each day...but I'm sure it'll work out!
